greetings my name is Juan Salcedo board president of the Lake Elsinore Unified School District on behalf of the Board of Trustees and our team we are excited to welcome you to the 20 22 23 school year we are also announce and welcome dr. Ryan Lewis Doctor Who has joined leusd as superintendent of schools on July 1st 2022 as an educator for nearly 25 years he brings with him both the heart of service and the commitment to celebrate the great work of our students and staff sooner classes will be filled with laughter and excitement as we see old friends and build new relationships we look forward to all the events to help us build our school Community football games performances Friday flags and so much more before we open our doors a couple helpful reminders starting August 10th classes that are middle and high school begin at 8:30 a.m. we appreciate the support of our families as we begin this new transition mass or not required on campus however students and staff are welcome to wear one if they choose mass or available at all or School sites covid-19 vaccinations are not required for students we will continue to monitor guidance and provide updates to our families as a I know school safety has been at the center of our hearts and thoughts we each play a significant role in creating a safe environment for staff and students you are a first line of communication if you see or hear something concerning in person or online please report it to your school site or we tip line every report we received was taken seriously and investigated working together through your efforts allows us to watch our loved ones carefully I appreciate it thank you for your commitment to the safety of our have a great first day of school. Saint Louis will now share the ways that our district Advil layers of safety to maintain a safe learning environment for students and staff hi I'm Ryan Lewis thank you Tracy Salcido I feel honored to have been selected by the Board of Education to join the Lake Elsinore Unified School District and serve as your superintendent I am delighted to have the opportunity to share the excitement of opening the 22 23 school year along with our dedicated team and I look forward to meeting our students and our families today I would like to provide an update on a proactive steps our district has implemented to enhance safety protocols at our schools although we are proud of our improvements we know the work does not end here our team will continue to implement additional phases throughout the school year and into the future when we talk about school safety a few improvements you may notice or additional security camera systems new and taller privacy fencing new phone systems increase lighting and even shatterproof privacy tint on most of our windows lastly we batted a new visitor procedure that will permit access to only a single point of entry at each School site while we know this is a transition for our families visiting our school we appreciate your patience and support please allow a little extra time when visiting our schools our district is grateful for a close partnership with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department who played an essential role in building positive relationships with our students also preventing and responding to incidents in our community we are proud to announce that we have expanded our Public Safety team with the approval of three new positions will now have a total of six full-time officers dedicated to our students safety and well-being with these enhancements we have strengthen the overall security of our school sites we will continue to evaluate our safety efforts to foster a safe learning environment for our students I am so proud of the work we have done and as we look to the Future I'm encouraged to see what we can accomplish when we all work together now more than ever we are stronger together together we are leusd I wish all of you a great first day of school and even better first morning have a great school year
