A School Bus Roadeo is a competition for drivers and their skills in precision driving over obstacle courses that include backing, parallel parking, student loading and unloading, offset alley, right- and left-hand turns, written exams on rules and regulations and vehicle inspection.

Lake Elsinore Unified has participated in Roadeo since 1998 and has received numerous local and state awards. The main focus of a School Bus Roadeo is safety. The more training and practice a driver has, the safer everyone is.

 

All practice is done on a voluntary basis, and drivers also devote many hours detailing their buses for the Roadeo competition. Roadeo is a great skill-builder that is beneficial to the drivers, the school district and bus-riding students.
