Each month, the Governing Board recognizes excellence in education by honoring an outstanding teacher. At its regular meeting of October 15, Karen S. Jones, a first grade teacher at Earl Warren Elementary School received this honor.

 

In his introduction and presentation, Dr. Alain Guevara, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services, said, “Mrs. Jones sets a high standard in the use of instructional technologies, curricular materials, and classroom strategies. Her unique ability to seek out what every one of her students is thinking, what their strengths are, and what they’re struggling with, places her at an incredibly high caliber.” He added that Mrs. Jones models professional learning for her peers on a minute-by-minute basis, always questioning what she could do better to advance all of her students.
