New Weather Monitoring System

Lake Elsinore Unified School District has installed the Perry Weather Monitoring System to support the health and safety of our students and staff during outdoor activities. We have installed seven weather monitoring stations across the district to ensure comprehensive coverage and provide accurate, real-time data. This system tracks temperature, air quality, humidity, and severe weather—including lightning—to help schools make informed decisions about outdoor activities. Each school has access to data from the nearest station, ensuring the conditions are relevant and localized.

Please refer to the Weather Monitoring Station Location Chart to find the station closest to your child’s school site.

Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT)

WBGT is a measure of heat stress that accounts for air temperature, humidity, radiant heat from the sun, and air movement to assess the safety of working or exercising in hot environments.

Air Quality Index (AQI)

AQI is a color-coded and numerical scale used to inform the public about the daily level of air pollution and its associated health risks.
