Comprehensive School Safety Plans (CSSP)

Lake Elsinore Unified School District develops and maintains Comprehensive School Safety Plans (CSSP) at each school site, in accordance with California Education Code §§ 32281–32282. These plans are designed to reflect the unique needs of each school while supporting a consistent, districtwide approach to safety.

Each plan addresses key areas including violence prevention, child abuse reporting procedures, emergency preparedness, and an assessment of campus safety conditions and school-related activities. Schools review and update their plans annually, with ongoing updates made throughout the year to ensure information remains current.

LEUSD utilizes the Incident Command System (ICS) to guide emergency response. This approach helps coordinate efforts with law enforcement, fire services, and other public agencies, providing a clear structure for responding to incidents of all sizes. The District’s safety plans align with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS).

In addition, school safety plans include strategies related to traffic safety, student wellness, and other areas aligned with state requirements and Board policies, supporting safe and well-prepared learning environments across all school sites.
