Become a Volunteer

Welcome Families!

Volunteers play an important role in supporting students, schools, and programs across Lake Elsinore Unified School District (LEUSD). We’re grateful for the many ways families and community members partner with us to support student success.

Volunteering with LEUSD is a simple process designed to keep our schools safe while helping you get involved. Opportunities may take place at school sites, during events, or in support roles, and some requirements may vary depending on the activity.

Getting Started

Volunteering in LEUSD is a simple process designed to keep our schools safe while helping you get involved.

All volunteers complete a basic application and clearance process before beginning. Depending on the type of volunteer activity, some additional requirements may apply.

The steps below will guide you through everything you need to get started. If additional information is needed, you will be contacted directly.

Step 1: Apply for Your "A" Badge

Pick up a volunteer packet from your child’s school office or download it from this page
Carefully review and complete all required forms
Have your child’s teacher and principal sign the first page
Create an account on https://leusd-keenan.safeschools.com/register/8588b0c8 (under position select Volunteer) and complete the Mandated Reporter: Child Abuse and Neglect California Full training.
Provide proof of a current negative TB test (within the last year)
Call email Jennifer.chilton@leusd.k12.ca.us to schedule your appointment

At your appointment, your photo will be taken, and you will receive your A Badge.

Step 2: Complete Your "B" Badge (Fingerprinting)

Fingerprinting is completed as part of your appointment at no cost
If needed, you may choose to complete fingerprinting through another approved vendor (fees may apply)
Fingerprint clearance is processed through the Department of Justice (please allow approximately 2 weeks)

Once approved, you will receive your B Badge, which will be sent to your child’s school.

Fingerprinting does not need to be repeated as long as you remain an active volunteer.

Renewing Your Volunteer Badge

To continue volunteering each school year:

Complete an Intent to Renew form at the beginning of the school year
Log in to https://leusd-keenan.safeschools.com/ and complete the yearly Mandated Reporter: Child Abuse and Neglect California Full training.
Your school will submit the form to update your volunteer status

This helps ensure your records stay up to date so you can continue supporting your school.

The school site will verify that the Mandated Reporter Training is complete and that the TB expiration date is current prior to completing the signed Intent to Renew form and submitting it to Safety & Risk Services for record updates.

You do not need to hand-deliver to the District Office for processing. If the TB has not expired, the volunteer can volunteer at that time after the paperwork is processed. School site personnel can check a master database for currently registered volunteers and their TB expiration dates. New badges will not be issued every school year. Please continue to use the original badge. When your TB expires, you will receive a new badge once your new TB test has been submitted.
