LEUSD Citizen Awards Program 2018

The annual LEUSD Citizen Awards Program recognizes an exemplary high school student, parent-volunteer, and community business partner! The 2017-18 call for nominations will soon be announced. Notification of our 2017-18 honorees will be no later than March, 2018.

Background:

Promoting student, parent and community engagement is a goal under the district’s Strategic Plan and Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Citizen Awards Program reflects our commitment to public involvement and recognizing the role of non-certificated individuals in school success. These individuals are selected following an open call for nominations.

Three awards are given in three nomination categories:

  • Studentsone student role model representing High School grades 9-12;
  • Parent/Volunteerone outstanding parent, guardian or individual who has provided voluntary service at one or more schools, preschools or afterschool programs;
  • Community Partnerone community-based organization, business, or agency whose partnership with the district has strongly supported students, teachers, or both.

Criteria: Online nominations include: A) stating the main reason for a given nomination, B) defining how the nominee nurtures, inspires and engages other people, or has made a difference through their commitment and service to the district.

Submittal Rules: LEUSD welcomes online nominations from the public, district employees, and the community. One nominee per category.

Judging: Nominations are evaluated by the Appreciation Reception Committee. Honorees will be announced in late February.

Notification and Recognition Event Invitations: Honorees will be notified in writing and invited to attend an LEUSD Board of Trustees meeting to be formally recognized.
