The Governing Board seeks qualified, interested individuals to serve on a committee of community members serving as the independent Measure V Bond Citizens' Oversight Committee (COC) for the principal purpose of informing the public concerning the use of bond proceeds from the District's Measure V Bond Program. COC members serve without compensation.
VACANCIES TO BE FILLED (2):
- ONE representative to serve as a member-at-large
- ONE representative who is an LEUSD parent/guardian AND is also active in an LEUSD parent-teacher organization or LEUSD school site council
Citizens' Oversight Committee applications are now available on the district's web site (see link below). To be considered completed applications must be submitted by close of business, 4:30 p.m., on Friday May 24, 2019. Appointments to fill two (2) COC vacancies will become effective upon approval by the Board of Trustees at their regular meeting of Thursday, June 13, 2019.
This committee includes a minimum of eleven (11) members, each to serve for a term of two (2) years, without compensation, for no more than two (2) consecutive terms. Excluded from COC membership are district employees and district officials, and any vendor, consultant or contractor of the district.
To ensure a representative and diverse composition, COC membership must include: one (1) community business representative; one (1) senior citizen representative; one (1) taxpayer organization representative; two (2) parent or guardian representatives of children within the district; two (2) parent/guardians who are also active in a parent-teacher organization or school site council; and four (4) at-large representatives.
* Measure V, LEUSD's $105 million school bond, was overwhelmingly approved by voters on November 8, 2016, with 66.69 percent, or 24,715 'yes' votes.
