Curriculum

We shall prepare students for the world that awaits them

Strategy 1 Educators in our learning environments integrate learning-enabling technology seamlessly into the teaching and learning process. These educators have the skills to adopt multiple, effective learning technologies and adapt to diverse, evolving learners to ensure that the use of technology adds value to the learning process and provides an opportunity to achieve student learning products that would not be possible otherwise.

Strategy 2 Align curriculum and instructional collaboration groups around the deliberate inclusion of sound instructional technology practices and aim to create collaborative digital learning experiences.

Strategy 3 Achieve a balance between content standards and outcomes essential to students’ futures that relies on application, problem solving, and critical thinking.

Strategy 4 Embrace and collaborate on instructional practices that cultivate 21st century skills and capacities.

Strategy 5 Utilize Professional Learning Communities as a vehicle to refine instruction. Students collaborate with educators, fellow students, and others outside of the school environment on projects that often (1) involve the demonstration of knowledge through creation, (2) foster deep learning, and (3) have value beyond the classroom walls.

Strategy 6 The district and its schools use technology as a vehicle for diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment at varying Depth of Knowledge levels to drive instruction. The school system has mechanisms (i.e., processes and digital environments) for using data to improve, enrich, and guide the learning process. Educators actively use data to guide choices related to curriculum, content, and instructional strategies.

Instruction

We see technology as a means to enrich instruction, extend learning opportunities, maximize resources and further our commitment to continuous improvement

Strategy 1 Create and sustain communities that connect staff, students, parents and community partners, enabling stakeholders to share ideas, concerns, data, best practices, and knowledge through effective communication practices.

Strategy 2 Leverage technology and media resources to provide digital learning options, foster meaningful connections, and differentiated, student-centered content for students at any time of day, from home, at school, and in the community.

Strategy 3 Empower students to be the architects of their own learning by providing the tools that allow them to set personal educational goals, create knowledge, and assess progress.

Strategy 4 Support and celebrate the extraordinary professionals and leaders for all schools, departments and programs by establishing and maintaining a shared leadership culture that supports our vision and values through collaborative communication and innovative and reflective practices.

Strategy 5 Design and implement professional growth opportunities to build capacity, cultivate collaboration and maximize the collective talents and efficacy of our team. Understanding that technology can increase efficiency of many aspects of professional development, we apply technology to streamline processes that focus our resources on student learning.

Communication

We shall communicate effectively and form strategic alliances to secure the support and resources necessary to deliver our vision

Page BreakStrategy 1 - Create a comprehensive approach to communication, utilizing new technologies when feasible and appropriate, in order to share LEUSD's vision and values with our many stakeholders.

Strategy 2 – The school district will establish a digital learning environment that offers students access, electronic communication, resource libraries, file exchanges, and online tools, which facilitate interactions among peers and between teachers, parents, and students in school and beyond. District leaders build digital citizenship in students an structure online communities that ensure online safety and security.

Strategy 3 – Expand within the organization the entrepreneurial skills, creativity and passion for reaching out to various publics and drawing on their unique capacities.

Strategy 4 – Forge coalitions with organizations such as PTA, LETA, CSEA, the City o Lake Elsinore, Chamber of Commerce, service clubs, other school districts, institutions of higher learning, and state and national organizations in pursuit of common goals.

Facilities

We shall provide effective learning facilities to enhance and maximize opportunities for our students

Strategy 1 Develop and implement a planning process which provides for learning environments that meet current and future needs, including flexibility in the use of time and space for learning.

Strategy 2 To facilitate more personalized learning, educators work together to identify and validate new designs for personalized learning where the use of time is adaptable and flexible. Associated resources are made available to all students both synchronously and asynchronously to promote flexibility. Identify and align resources for implementation of the facilities master plan to our instructional aims.

Strategy 3 Establish comprehensive learning environment design processes including educational specifications, technology and other instructional needs.

Strategy 4 Enhance and modernize existing facilities to assure desirable, inclusive and effective learning environments that support the needed skills of collaboration, creation, and discourse.

Budget

We shall maximize a budget that aligns resources in support of the district’s vision and values the contributions of our teachers

Strategy 1 Shared leadership teams continuously monitor technologies—software, hardware, and infrastructure—to ensure upgrades, additions, and, when called for, sunsetting/eliminations in a timely, environmentally responsible, and proactive manner.

Strategy 2 Ensure that instructional initiatives, budgets, professional development, and other priorities align with the District’s vision and goals, as outlined in the Strategic Plan.

Strategy 3 Examine options in funding methodology that allow resources to target specific student groups while maintaining flexibility.

Strategy 4 Evaluate and reallocate funding to schools and programs based on specific and targeted needs.

Strategy 5 Use data to consistently review and refine our instructional practices and resource allocation.

Strategy 6 The district provides the opportunities of a coordinated effort to create, refine, align, and share curriculum and learning materials created by LEUSD teachers.
